Privacy Policy

Group Chat Dad is operated by DP Labs LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company ("we," "us," "our"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you use the Group Chat Dad service.

What we collect

To run Group Chat Dad we collect:

• Phone numbers — yours (organizer) and members of groups you organize. Used to identify users in our system and route SMS through Twilio.
• Names — optional, set by the organizer for members.
• Message content — text of SMS sent to and from the bot's number, stored to display in your dashboard and parse RSVPs / expenses.
• Group, event, and expense data you create through the dashboard or via SMS.
• Payment references — Venmo username if you set one. We do not currently process payments; payments happen off-platform via Venmo.
• Session info — to keep you signed in (IP address, user agent at sign-in).

How we use your information

• Deliver the service: route inbound SMS to your group's dashboard, send authentication codes when you sign in.
• Send transactional SMS: occasional reminders, RSVP confirmations, account-related notices. Bot replies are scoped to groups you participate in.
• Display group activity (RSVPs, expenses, messages) on the dashboard.

SMS — opt-out, help, and rates

• Reply STOP to any bot message to opt out of all future SMS from us. Carrier-level opt-out is honored automatically.
• Reply HELP for help text and contact info.
• Message frequency varies based on your group's activity (RSVPs, event reminders, etc.).
• Standard message and data rates may apply, charged by your wireless carrier.
• SMS service is delivered via Twilio. You agree to Twilio's terms when using our SMS features.

Who we share data with

• Twilio — to send and receive SMS, and to verify phone numbers via Twilio Verify.
• Hosting and infrastructure providers — Fly.io for application hosting and Postgres database.
• Payment processors — when you opt into in-app payment collection (planned via JustiFi), payment details are processed by them under their privacy policy. Money does not currently flow through Group Chat Dad; this section will activate when in-app payments ship.
• Anthropic — when a member texts a receipt photo to a group with the running tab enabled, the image is sent to Anthropic's API for line-item extraction (vendor, total, items). Anthropic processes the image under their commercial terms and does not train on the data. We retain the parsed text on the receipt record; we do not retain the image bytes beyond the parse call.
• We do not sell your data, and we do not share with advertising or marketing third parties.
• Mobile opt-in data and consent — phone numbers and the fact that someone consented to receive SMS — are not shared with or sold to third parties, affiliates, or lead generators for marketing or promotional purposes, ever.

Data retention and deletion

We retain your account, group, and message history for as long as your account is active. To request deletion of your account and associated data, email us using the contact info below. Deletion is irreversible.

Security

We use industry-standard practices: TLS for all traffic, encrypted database connections, hashed session tokens, and we do not store passwords (we use Twilio Verify SMS one-time codes for authentication). No system is perfectly secure; you use the service at your own risk.

Your rights

You can:

• Access and edit your profile information from the dashboard.
• Remove yourself as a member of a group by asking the organizer to remove you, or by texting STOP from your phone.
• Request deletion of your account by emailing the contact below.

Children

Group Chat Dad is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product changes. Material changes will be communicated via SMS or email. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
